Bridal History in Poland

A old-fashioned Polish ceremony used to be a three or yet four day event. Typically, it was held outside in parks, trees and buildings. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of dynamics. Now, however, many couples choose to omit the church and simply have a meeting https://www.rd.com/list/female-firsts/ in their apartment or yard with close family and friends. They also enjoy the tremendous meals, songs and liquor but it’s not quite what it once was.
On the evening of the marriage, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- moment ceremony), comes the famous festival known as “oczepiny”, the unveiling of the bride. At this point, the veil is removed and she dons her czepek – a cover worn by Polish maidens to reflect their position as committed females. This is also when the longer braids are unbraided and cut short, as a symbol of her changeover from boyhood to woman.
As the couple leave the church, guests meet polish girl shower them with coins and granules, to provide them luck and prosperity. They therefore change into their bash clothing. It is also conventional to toss little, circular coins into the couple’s tresses– whoever collects the most will be in charge of their finances.
The bash begins, and you’ll find a lot of dancing going on. Poles believe that this reduces the side effects of too much drinking. There will be a lot of meals also, including lots of different types of sweets, snacks and ice cream.
