Retailers and Resellers – The Difference Between Retailers and Resellers

August 12, 2024 by

Retailers and resellers are two different kinds of business partners who directly influence the success of a brand. These business partners are prepared to assist you in growing and are committed to your success.

A retailer is a B2C business that purchases from distributors, wholesalers, or directly from brands to market their products or services to customers. They may sell a variety of items, such as shoes (Famous Footwear) and outdoor gears, such as REI, Columbia Sportswear, and even candy like Lolli and Pops See’s Candies. Retailers also specialize in specific industries like apparel (Pato’s Closet, Poshmark) or electronics (Best Buy, Target).

Resellers are companies or individuals who sell products under their own private label or stock to the buyer. They are usually smart negotiators who can find the most reliable suppliers at the lowest cost and then sell their products to consumers for a profit.

This business model is very popular nowadays, particularly due to the growth of online shopping platforms. Even brick and mortar companies such as Home Depot Walmart and Target are reselling their products. There are numerous online marketplaces on which individuals can sell products. Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, and even Poshmark the renowned clothing website, are all examples. Some of these marketplaces may have restrictions about what you can resell.
